Je suis ravie de commencer mon premier article sur le blog aujourd'hui et je le suis d'autant plus de commencer par un retour sur mon long weekend à Amsterdam de la semaine dernière.
Comme je vous le disais dans mon onglet ABOUT,
je suis donc d'origine franco-néerlandaise et c'est grâce à cela que depuis toute petite je passe beaucoup de mes vacances aux Pays-Bas et que j'ai eu la chance de pouvoir visiter énormément de villes, parmi lesquels Amsterdam.
Amsterdam est de loin ma ville préférée avec Paris. L'atmosphère et l'ambiance qui s'en dégage est incroyable, les gens sont de vrais amours et sont tellement ouverts. Le mode de vie hollandais n'a rien à voir, à mon sens, avec le mode de vie français et à chaque fois que je viens ici c'est une réelle bouffée d'air (frais parfois j'avoue haha)! Pour en revenir à Amsterdam, il y en a pour tous les goûts quand on aime fouiner, mais la ville saura charmer tout le monde avec ses canaux, petites ruelles et tous ses vélos à droite à gauche. Personnellement, à chaque fois que je reviens ici, c'est un dépaysement et je suis étonnée de ce que je découvre à chaque voyage.
J'ai voulu cette fois-ci faire découvrir ma tendre ville fétiche à une amie qui n'avait jamais mis les pieds dans le pays des tulipes, vélo et du Gouda (ohlala mais qu'est ce que c'est que ces clichés?)
Inutile de vous préciser que je voyais ses yeux émerveillés à travers les fenêtres du Tram à chaque fois qu'elle regardait dehors.
Je vous ai fais en haut de l'article une petite grille des endroits que j'ai pu adorer ce weekend (nouveaux ou non) en espérant vous donner envie de voyager un petit peu!
Mais avant de tout vous détailler plus bas, je vous laisse avec quelques photos de la ville.
I'm so glad to start my new blog adventure with an article on my long past weekend in Amsterdam.
As I told you in my ABOUT page,
I'm half Dutch n' half French that's why I went so many times to the Netherlands as my family lives there; thanks to my origins I visited so many cities there and left particularly my heart in Amsterdam.
Amsterdam became by far my favorite city with Paris. The city is so beautiful, so special, it was love at first sight when I saw all theses canals, those charming little tiny houses, the bikes passing by and all the kind-hearted souls that are living there. Dutch way of life is really different than the one we do have in France and I think that's why it really is a breath of fresh air to me when I travel to the Netherlands. Life has always seemed much easier to me here and people are way more open-minded than in Paris so that's part of the reasons of my love for my love for my mother's country.
Amsterdam really is a city where anyone will find what he loves and I still discover a billion of new places when I go there, it is magical each time for everyone!
This time, I wanted to show my beloved city to a lovely friend of mine which never had the chance to visit the country of tulips, bikes and Gouda before (so cliché I know, I know). Of course she did love it and I could see her eyes glowing threw the Tram's windows every single time she looked up at the houses.
You can find at the top of the article a few spots I did love this weekend, and I hope it will make you travel through your screen and make you want to book a train/plane ticket right now haha!
Here are already some pictures of my travel
1) Wildernis Bilderdijkstraat 165F, 1053 KP Amsterdam
Certainement le magasin le plus mignon que j'ai pu découvrir en arpentant les rues du quartier Ouest. Quand on rentre dans la boutique c'est un véritable régal pour les yeux, vous trouverez des centaines de plantes, au mur au sol et au plafond. Vous pouvez aussi venir y déguster une tasse de thé ou participer à un des workshops organisés par la boutique! Parfait pour trouver un petit cadeau, entre plantes et accessoires, ou simplement pour admirer cet magnifique pièce je vous recommande vraiment ce bijou.
2) NDSM Tt. Neveritaweg 61, 1033 WB Amsterdam (ferry à Centraal Station)
Au nord d'Amsterdam, après avoir pris le ferry (gratuit et accessible en vélo) pour environ 10 minutes, nous arrivons dans une partie de la ville qui comprend un squat artistique, des cafés et un immense marché aux puces (l'entrée y est à 5€ et attention s'il fait beau il peut y avoir une file d'attente, mais le terrain est vraiment immense). Le ferry circule toute les 10/15 minutes il me semble!
In the North of the city, after you took the ferry (free and reachable with your bike) for about 10 minutes, you arrive in a artistic part of Amsterdam where you'll find cafés, a huge flea market (5€ to come in but be careful you might be standing in a queue if the weather's really nice but it is worth it if you like to antiquing) and many other beautiful thing. The ferry comes and leaves every 10/15 minutes!
3) Moco Honthorststraat 20, 1071 Amsterdam
J'étais obligé de mettre le Moco dans ma petite liste, le Moco qui est un nouveau musée d'art moderne contemporain, pour inaugurer cette sublime bâtisse, les propriétaires ont fait une double exposition de Banksy, roi du street-art et du grand maître du pop-art Andy Wharol. Deux expositions magnifiques que je recommande, à aller voir vite vite vite!
I absolutely had to put the Moco museum in my list, Moco is a new modern contemporary museum in A'dam, to inaugurate this amazing beautiful villa, the owners decided to make a double exhibition with the king of street-art, Banksy and the master of pop-art, Andy Wharol. Two amazingly great exhibitions I really do recommend, go go go!
4) Cafe Het Paleis Paleisstraat 16, 1012 RB Amsterdam
Je suis ravie d'être tombée sur ce petit café pas loin du quartier agité et touristique de Dam, leur Appeltaart était très bonne (la meilleure est soit-disant au Winkel43* courrez-y) et le petit banc le long du canal avec une vue splendide sur les jolies ruelles font toujours le plus grand bien.
*mais si la meilleure reste celle de ma maman ;)
So happy I came across this little café near the touristic Dam district, we did taste their Appeltaart (typical dutch apple pie) which was really great (the best is supposedly at Winkel43*, go check it out for me). The little bench along the canal with the perfect view on the tiny alleys are always worth it !
*even if my mom's pie is definitely the best ;)
5) Noorderlicht NDSM-Plein 102, 1033 WB Amsterdam
Restons au nord de la ville et toujours dans le NDSM, si vous cherchez pour un endroit plus qu'original pour manger/boire un coup, midi ou soir, vous êtes au parfait endroit! Ce café culturel regorge de surprise, vous pouvez boire à l'intérieur de cette grande serre magnifiquement aménagée, dehors sur de jolies tables de picnick colorées ou encore le long de l'eau, un réel bonheur, et tout ça entourée de musique de très bon goût! Définitivement un de mes endroits préférés et coup de coeur d'Amsterdam.
To stay in the North of Amsterdam and still in the NSDM, if you're looking for the perfect novel place to eat and drink something, in the day or a night, you're in the perfect place! This cultural café i full of surprises, you can eat inside this amazing greenhouse or also outside by the water or on a lovely little picnic colorful table. Real happiness, I could stay here for hours, they play such good music too, this is definitely one of my favorite places in Amsterdam.
6) De Prins Prinsengracht 124, 1015 EA Amsterdam
Petit bruincoffee (café brun) très sympa dans le plus beau quartier (à mon sens bien sûr) d'Amsterdam, le quartier Jordaan, situé pas loin de la maison d'Anne Frank, vous pourrez y déguster de délicieuses Bitterballen à partager (ou non, glouton va), la carte est très sympa et il y en a pour tous les goûts, salades, burger, un petit Café Brun très sympa toujours le long des canaux!
Little nice bruincoffee ("brown coffee") and my favorite district of Amsterdam, Jordaan! Situated not far from Anne Frank's house, you can savor delicious Bitterballen, to share (or not, you hungry monster), the menu is really nice and there is food for everyone, salads, burgers... And of course, always along the canals, what else do you need ?
7) Waterlooplein Market Waterlooplein 2, Amsterdam
C'est le plus célèbre marché aux puces de la ville, vêtements vintage, instruments de musique, vinyles, bijoux, délicieux stands de smoothies frais (à 2€ le grand verre un pur régal). Un petit paradis si vous êtes amoureux de bonnes affaires et que vous aimez fouinez. Vaut vraiment le détour rien que pour les yeux.
The most famous flea market of the city, vintage clothes, old and funny music instruments, vinyls, jewelry, delicious fresh smoothies stands (2€ the big cup, amazing treat!). A little place of paradise if you're a good deal lover and if you like to snoop! It really is worth the detour!
8) FEBO
Si vous avez une soudaine envie de Kroket (quoi? comment ça tu ne connais pas?) sur le pouce, c'est le moyen le plus simple et le plus marrant de s'en procurer. Cette chaine de fast-food a la singularité de vous laisser récupérer vos petits pains dans des distributeurs automatiques, que vous pourrez accompagner de frites/boissons au comptoir. Pas très secret mais je devais vous en parler au cas ou!
If you suddenly want to eat a Kroket (what, you don't know it? what's wrong with you?), this is the more simple et funniest way to have one. This fast-food chain let you pick up your hot food in a dispenser, and you can order fries/drinks at the bar. This is not a secret place but I had to tell you about it, just in case!
9) Tuin 10 Tweede Tuindwarsstraat 10, 1015 Amsterdam
En plein milieu du quartier Jordaan, vous avez le Bar Tuin10 et en face de celui-ci, le restaurant "Bar Kitchen", c'est de celui-ci dont je vous parle, j'y ai mangé un burger à couper le souffle (littéralement parceque j'ai eu le malheur de prendre des jalapenos et ne tolérant pas vraiment l'épicé j'ai cru mourir hahahaha mais une fois passé c'était une tue-rie) et les frites maisons à tomber par terre. Un vrai régal et une ambiance tamisée aux chandelles entourés de plantes à l'étage du restaurant!
In the Jordaan district, you have the Tuin10 Bar and the Tuin10 BarKitchen just in front of it, I'll tell you about the restaurant, I ate a breathtaking burger (literally, I had jalapeños in it and i'm not a spicy person, thought I was gonna die but once over, it was so good!) and the homemade fries are sooooooo good! A real delight and a subdued atmosphere with candles and plants upstairs!
To Do:
- eat panenkoeken (dutch pancakes), typical and delicious in a nice "Pannenkoekenhuis"
- visit museums in the MuseumPlein
- stroll in the "9 straatjes" district ("9 alleys"), the shops are lovely there and you will find treasures
- eat a Kroket (broodje kroket) or two in a café or at FEBO
- stroll with a boat on the canals
- rent a bike to feel like a real dutchie (not that easy be careful haha!)
- walk in the artistic Jordaan district
- visit a market (flea, flowers...)
- eat in the Foodhallen (West district)
- visit the famous Van Gogh museum and the Anne Frank house (attention to book in advance if you want to avoid 3hours queue)
- and of course go in the Red Light District, an unavoidable of the city
Don't do:
- if you want to avoid tourists, avoid the really touristic d'Harleemstraat on weekends
- go to Anne Frank's house without any online booking (you will waste sooooo much time waiting)
- rent a car, the city is so beautiful afoot or by bike and it is really useless
- mingle coffeeshop and café, definitely not the same ;)
- walk on bicycle paths (if you want to survive in the city)
